About Club Miata

Vancouver Island is located on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada. The island is 460 kilometres (285 mi) in length and 80 kilometres (50 mi) in width at its widest point. The 2001 census population on the Island was 656,312. British Columbia statistics in 2004 estimated the population at 734,860. Slightly fewer than half of these (331,491) live in Greater Victoria. Other major cities on Vancouver Island include Nanaimo, Duncan, Port Alberni, Parksville, Courtenay, and Campbell River.

After attending many of Washington State's Club Miata NorthWest events, many Island Miata owners were inspired and started Club Miata Vancouver Island in 1990. They were dedicated in keeping the same goal of promoting enthusiasm for the Miata ownership experience through driving events/activities and social gatherings and these ideals continues to be the key to our success today as currently have approximately 80 cars in the Club.

Club Miata Vancouver Island's excursions have taken its members throughout Vancouver Island, into the Thompson Okanagan of BC, and around the Pacific Northwest on some of the twistiest and most scenic roads. Not only are there day rides, overnight events as well as various annually planned activities, but there's even the odd impromptu ride. All the while, we've got our engines zooming and tops down, of course!

The Club Miata membership includes Miataphilies from all over the Island, including Victoria and area, Cobble Hill, Mill Bay, Duncan, Crofton, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Nanoose Bay, Qualicum Beach, Fanny Bay, Comox, Courtenay, and Campbell River. We're a very informal group, as we only have one meeting a year. Once you become a member, this is your club! We want everyone to get involved in planning various activities and rides. Miata Club drives takes the twisty roads to the most interesting places Vancouver Island has to offer. Whether it's a drive to the ocean shores, through the countryside or off the Island, the emphasis is always the same ~ fun, friendship, and sharing the passion for our cars.
