Miata World IIMay 21st - May 25th Dallas - Fort Worth, Texas
What a great trip. Overall the weather was good and we put on a little over 8,500km. We had the tops up perhaps a total of 8-10 hours over a 3-week period. We took 10 days to drive to Grapevine, TX (Dallas - Forth Worth metro area). Some of the highlights were Arches National Park in Moab UT; The Plaza in Toas, NM; The Lorretto Chapel (famous staircase) and Plaza in Sante Fe, NM; and Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, TX.
Below are pictures of our trip. If you want to see more pictures, apparently the MWII site will have an extensive scrapbook link. It was exhilarating to ride the oval track (and the 24 degree banks) both in one large group and in small groups of 12. Tom and Nancy we able to ride the oval 4-5 times and got up as high as 110 mph. We made the Guinness Books of Records with the largest parade with 297 Miatas. The old record was from Australia with 251 cars.
The only disappointment was that a Club Miata VI member did not win the 2010 Miata. It was won by a local Fort Worth couple, apparently the first World Miata draw was also won locally. There were just a little less than 700 participants in the rally.
Miata World II was great and we met many new friends. There's one quote I remember most from Saturday night's banquet... Miatas are not heading for a destination, but rather are on a journey! How true!
